Why “Patrols” Aren’t Enough: The Camden Office Block Takeover

On paper, this Camden office block looked covered. The owners had hired patrols to keep an eye on the building while it sat empty. Regular checks. Basic oversight. A ticked box. But general patrol services are not the same as commercial property security - and we were reminded of that the day the owners called saying: “We think someone has broken in. The guards won’t go inside.”.

When we arrived, it was clear the site had already been taken over. Several doors were barricaded from the inside. Stairwells had smashed glass deliberately spread across them. Squatters had fortified areas of the building to the point where even the guards refused entry.
This is what happens when buildings rely on low-level patrols instead of professional vacant property security measures.
Room by room, we conducted a full sweep, gathering photographic evidence for the owners. One door was locked with someone clearly behind it - a tall man with a huge pitbull. Situations like this aren’t what patrol guards are trained to handle, but they’re exactly the kind of challenges that specialist property protection teams deal with.
We sent owners real-time updates, coordinated with Ambika’s eviction support team and managed the entire legal process, including securing a court order. Within days, the building was safe again.
The lesson here is straightforward. If a commercial property is valuable enough to insure, it’s valuable enough to protect properly. Patrols don’t prevent takeover. Professional building protection services do.
